Discover 800 years of Irish History with our brand new day tour devised to coincide with the opening of the new Medieval Museum in Kilkenny. This very popular tour will start with a journey along the very scenic east coast where you will see picturesque landscapes and charming villages. We will then cross into the Wicklow hills to visit places such as Avoca and Glendalough, to name but two, the choice is yours. There would be plenty of time for photo ops and refreshments.
From there we would make our way across the hills, down as far as Kilkenny, which among other things, is home to Kilkenny Castle and the new Medieval Museum. Following that we would make our way back to Dublin via the plains of Kildare and the Curragh to complete a day filled with fantastic scenery, wonderful people and a hint of the real, and hidden, Ireland.
Glendalough, Co Wicklow is one of Ireland’s most beautiful destinations. For thousands of years people have been drawn to “the valley of the two lakes” for its spectacular scenery, rich history, archaeology and abundant wildlife. Glendalough is a remarkable place that will still your mind, inspire your heart and fill your soul.
Kilkenny is a medieval town in the southeast of Ireland. Its grand Kilkenny castle was built in1195 by Norman occupiers. The town has deep religious roots and many well preserved churches and monasteries, including imposing St. Canice’s Cathedral, and the Black Abbey Dominican priory, both from the 13th century. It’s also a crafts hub with shops all along its winding lanes selling pottery, paintings and jewellery.
